Sydney's "Chance To Impress"- Australia 2011- Day1

Dear pipsqueaks,

(To avoid confusion, please read the note on "Queenstown"- even I got a bit disarranged skimming through my trips!)

This morning was so brutal, it wasn't even funny. Apart from the call that stopped ringing when I forced myself to pick it up- around 5:30am- I was under attack by horrendous allergies! How weird that I'm perfectly fine in KL, but when I come to a place with clean/fresh air, I get allergies. Can't say I miss it, but possibly, I'm just not fit for spring. It does match my personality quite well as I don't like changes much either. But yes, obviously, I looked like I could use a month vacation this morning- although, aside from meetings n touching up minutes, I found it quite relaxing. So I'm not too sure why I'm getting all these symptoms of being sick- allergies, breakouts, n soreness. Maybe it's true! Once u've started to hit the gym regularly, ur body'll need that type of burnout in order to function properly. Since I've ran everyday while I was at home, doing absolutely nothing on top of all this excessive eating n stressing out...I guess it could be! Well, I can't wait to get back to gym!

But, before that, I gotta go Sydney n before that, I gotta somehow shove everything back into my luggage. It's one of those very peculiar things, really. I'm not sure if other's experience the same, but somehow, with the exact list of things, putting them back in just doesn't seem to fit. Yet, when u packed for the trip, it all kinda tetris-ly n harmoniously come together in the perfect shape that is ur luggage. Even so, I successfully packed up n headed down for a quick breakfast before finishing up the last few postcards. Yes, I admit I'm addicted to writing postcards! It's just an exciting feeling to share ur adventures with ur friends n to remind them they've been missed. Now that I think about it, I do spend quite a lot on postcards n stamps! But it's all good. I'd think a postcard would be more meaningful than something material anyways. Too bad, that's how Jessy shares her love. Take it or leave it :P

(my 5th currency this trip...confused-much!?)

Soon enough, I- coincidentally along with two council bosses n one's family- was at the airport, checked in n ready for boarding. I just have to say, judging by the size of this airport, no wonder they have literally finger-countable arrivals! It's so small that I could see the immigration check-point from boarding wait area. But whatever it lacked in size, it made up in view. Just the most amazing "remarkables" right in the backdrop. It almost looks like a painting because it looked too "perfect". I will definitely recommend this "end of the world" to anyone who would like a getaway from the rest of the world. Actually, u could even say its a totally different world, or at least it feels like it. Just go n drop urself right into the scene. U'll know what I mean.

Badabing-badaboom, I was in Sydney. It was spitting. How could it do this to me, n on the day that I gotta drag my luggage through the metro, hop on, hop off, n for another few blocks to my stay in Sydney?! Ahh! Oh wells, I've decided that if it were pouring, I'll just cab. No biggie (except now that I'm here, I don't think any taxi driver would've taken me because it was literally 3 blocks away with 2
corners). So yes, International Airport station directly to Museum station. Sounded easy  enough...except, Museum station was definitely not built during times of big luggages because it didn't have lifts! How can u say this is an "international flight" friendly public transit when one of ur main stations have, instead of a lift, over 50 steps of stairs?! Did I mention my luggage was already overweight that I had to take out a KG just to be barely accepted without being charged extra?! Well, at that point, it didn't really make a difference where that one KG was because I'd have to lift it all. With my computer bag, handbag n luggage, by the time I made it out to the main entrance, I was sweating pearls! Gross. Now, I'll have to waste more time taking a shower on top of the time I wasted getting lost. Honestly, maps are useless to me! Even though this sounded like all hell broke loose, I managed to reach the Y-hotel, drop off all my stuff, contemplate whether to shower or not, decide not to, n head out all in a wasting hour. Geebiz!

(walking in Darling Harbour)

Self-persuading that this was a fresh start as I walked in the afternoon breeze, I confidently read themap n successfully got myself to darling harbour! *proud* There were lots of things happening already even though u could tell it'll get even busier later on. A nice area that kinda gave me the feeling of Vanouver's Waterfront station area with the convention center n sidewalk leading to Stanley Park. Downtown but not full of brand names. More for the chillaxers. No wonder my coworker suggested me to head there *thumbs up*. After picking up an i-venture card- basically a package that allows various entries to attractions in town- all of which I've already researched n know that it'll be worth the purchase (Luckily, I ran into an HSBC ATM- no extra charges for withdraw! Muhaha). Armed with the i-venture card, I ran straight for the Wildlife Center to see some cute koalas n kangaroos. No doubt, koalas are adorable! Not because they "look" cute, but how they move n function...so gracefully slow. There was the chance to take a picture with them, but I figured if I can't even touch or hold them, it's kinda pointless to take the picture. So, I snapped a few (of course, of many other cool reptiles n fuzzy furry things...oh! n a bat that was sleeping upside-down. Adorable!) n left the Wildlife Centre in search for dinner.

(it's a southern hairy nosed wombat!! so uglifly adorable!)

(so cuddly adorable!! wanna sneak one home with me~~)

(it just wouldn't stand up for me!!! arg)

Knowing there wouldn't be much choice near my stay n seeing there were tons of cafes n restaurants in the Darling Harbour area, I decided to have Brazilian for dinner. Apart for the terribly impatient hostess, everyone n everything else was great. Their meats were just perfectly flavoured n the atmosphere an enjoyment. I would recommend- name to be filled in later. Not wanting to walk back too late n disturbing my dormmates- yes! I finally have company in a dorm, but what are the chances they're all leaving tomorrow when they're all lone travellers?! Unfortunately, very high- I left around 9:30pm. Showered n in bed, I have to say the dorms showers were probably the most dreadful ones I've seen. Hostelworld ratings were right- their washroom/showers could use a revamp. Nonetheless, I won't complain as I won't be staying too long. No worries, even with my princess issues, I can still pull through...I think! If anything, I'll just switch rooms! :P

(Good night Darling...lol!)

So yes, nights from Sydney. Jessy out.
