Year of Happiness

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Honestly speaking, I did see half of these proposals coming. But, they still make me tear a bit seeing them come true. First, in Feb, my distant cousin Wendy (I say that because her last name is also Sung). In May, my highschool friend Carmen who still remains very close even though we rarely see each other. In June, one of my closest friends Tania who's just an amazing amazing person. In July, my childhood Moles teacher and BFF Tamzie. In Aug, one of my sister's friends who makes time to see me when I'm back in TPE and is just a super nice person Jeannie; and just a few days ago, an old badminton friend Toby proposed to his long time girlfriend Carmen in London.

Actually, now come to think of it, all these relationships have been long ones. And that's why it means so much more to see it come to fruition. I don't think I've been there for most of their ups and downs but I've heard enough to know it certainly weren't easy. Every relationship has their challenges, and I'm just glad they were able to make it through together.

Time really flies, and now I'm marrying off more than half of my close girlfriends. A little hard to admit it's all really happening, but hey I'm a proud friend. Look how far we've come - a childhood full of memories. I suppose it just feels like I'm gonna lose them to married life, but I know it's just me being me. I'm sure they'll still make time for me. Here's to our childhood - from girls to ladies to wives-to-be...

Never Stop Moving: Puma & YOLO

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Still walking around like a zombie because I can't really bend my legs, but overall quite alive. So what happened this weekend? Well, yous truly decided to take on a super random challenge of running both the Puma Night Run and the YOLO Run...back to back night and day.

Puma Night Run on the Saturday night; YOLO Run on the Sunday morning. Logic: Using the Puma Run to warm up for YOLO. Which actually, turned out to be completely opposite.

Let's just say, that wasn't the smartest decision I've ever made, but I did enjoy the whole 'trying something for the first time'. Picking up your runners pack, then reaching the festive area just to warm up with other runners. We even zumba-ed a little before the run on Sunday. It wasn't about winning or trying to beat anyone - it was just to participate in something. And I quite miss that kind of experience. Perhaps, it's because of my job where I'm mostly the one planning or organising that I don't really get to be a part of the fun. Not to say that there's no fun in organising but you know what I mean.

So yes, I actually ran the whole Puma 6km except for when I had to fight for a cup of water at the water station. Literally had way too many hands going for the same cup, so I had to stop and look for a free cup. No worries though, was back in pace right after. I managed to finish 6km in 48min32sec (ranked 136 in Open Female category). Definitely better than I expected!

Around The Corner

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Thank Goodness It's Friday! Sure feels like lots had happened since I last updated, so I'm not quite sure what I'd shared and what I haven't, but will share what I can remember.

Firstly, a close friend of mine had gone into surgery early this week and now is recovering well. That's always good to hear, and an even bigger motivation to keep myself in good health. Yes, I've been doing a lot more running but I'm not sure if my right knee and left ankle can handle this weight (haha, ironic that I need them to lose this weight first in order to lighten the load!) But so far so good! The only worry is that for the 3/4 of August, I'll be on the move. So not sure how to keep this level up, but will find a way! As they say, "Where there is a will, there is a way!"

About turning 30 - I'm not quite sure what to think of it, and perhaps it's not that big of a deal as I thought it would be. Actually, I don't feel any different than when I celebrated my 25th. But I suppose it should be important - in that I officially am OLD. I won't be able to play the cute card as innocently as I used to, haha. Just kidding, I'd still try my hand anyway: there will be takers!

Mount Kota Kinabalu

Dear Pipsqueaks,

The saying goes...
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Well, try 40,000 steps to cover 16km...up and down Mount KK. Honestly can't feel my legs. But what an experience! It's somewhat hard to describe what was going on through my mind the whole climb. 'What did I get myself into?' 'Why did I pay for this pain?' 'Where IS that damn peak?' All sorts of thoughts. That feeling of endless walking and walking and walking without knowing how far more to go is one of the most scariest feelings ever. Probably because there are no other option than to keep walking.

(READY, SET & GO!)

(It begins here - at Timpohon Gate)

Ready for CNY2017

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Can't say I'm ready for CNY but I'm definitely ready to bring the load of snacks to my parent's house! The collection has been taking up a floor in the fridge and a box in the living room - they need to be EATEN! And not by me because them dang sugar levels. Anyway, it's been...OMG! It's been more than 6 months since I've spent some time with my parents and le sister?! What in the world...though I did briefly see them on my way to Vancouver for a wedding in September. But that can't count. I've gotta do better than that.

Which is why I'm only going to be attending 6 tournaments this year:
- All England Open (Birmingham)
- Sudirman Cup (Gold Coast)
- Indonesia Open (Jakarta)
- World Championships (Glasgow)
- French Open (Paris)
- Dubai Finals (Dubai)

Birthday Surprise!

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Last weekend was action-packed but still managed to be somewhat relaxing. Planned: we were set to go spend a night at Port Dickson's Avillion, arriving just in time for the rather late check-in hour of 3pm, then chillaxing by the pool before grabbing dinner somewhere. But of course, we're always up for those come-what-may's.

The day started with a late brunch at this super hidden Korean coffee shop in the middle of warehouses called Bean Brothers. Honestly, we drove by a couple of times completely missing it because it didn't have the branding we were expecting. Luckily, our friend stood out onto the street, or else we'd probably be making another round. But anyway, we found the place, got parking and was too ready for some food!

Upon pushing through their gigantic glass door, it did feel like we were entering a secret compartment of reality. This place was spacious and yet filled with items here and there. Open concept with lots of seats and a huge hole in the middle of the ceiling (that looked like the 2nd floor fell through) allowing light to shine through to the first. Very edgy and metal which normally feels rather cold but warmed up quite a bit with all the customers and staff buzzing around.

Certainly a focus on their beans more than food, you will find only a page of belly-fillers. But I'm sure you will find something you like despite the short list. You can always try the avocado on toast with quinoa. Just enough punch for breakfast without it getting too heavy. Most of my friends didn't like the quinoa but let me tell you it's good for you!

(That's what I ordered - the name escapes me but it's the only one with avocado in it if I remember correctly)

(Super chocolate-oozy muffin: a must-order for chocolate-lovers!)

(Christine and me!)

(Coffee + Friends = Best combo ever!)

Then, we were on our way to Port Dickson...kinda. There were talks about going to an ostrich farm that was on the way to PD, but no one really confirmed the plan was a go so it wasn't until we were on the car that was decided. Yup, that's how we rooooooooll! Never been to an ostrich farm, and the only thing I knew about ostrich were that they're quite fierce. Fast runners with super skinny legs...and some people actually eat ostrich meat! That's just...not my cup of tea.

So yes, we arrived and took a walk around the farm, which surprisingly was quite well kept. It didn't have that farm or zoo-smell that I had been anticipating. We learned a few things about ostriches: male has black feathers while female have grey feathers; their eggs can withstand 120kg of weight; and any one of these could have been the runaway ostrich on Federal Highway the other day! Yes, if you had not read the news: Ostrich on Highway.

We also tried to get our baby of the group to ride the donkey, but these two were by far the most LAZIEST if not the SHYEST donkeys ever. They wouldn't take even a step forward, and at some point the one we had gotten her to sit on was leaning on the wooden post like it was too cool for all of us. Faint. Maybe it was the weathers, so fine.

Then, the joke of the farm: they actually had a one-humped camel by the name of 'Jessy'. Like seriously, it's so difficult to find a person with the same name. What are the chances of running into a camel with the same name? Apparently very high...

(Well, hello there Jessy~)

(This farm also had a doggy cafe - in partnership with SPCA, they keep the doggies here so they could roam around and you can adopt them if you'd like!)

After the short walk around, we departed with the group to check-in at our resort. Part of the members package, we got a free night stay at a Garden Chalet. Room was just as spacious with a reading bed by the window. Actually, I think the whole washroom area was equivalent to the bed area - BIG. Then, I was left to snack on whatever I brought over before Jo came back from meeting up with another friend (who was also staying at Avillion for the Run-Bike-Run Dualthon the following day) to tell me what the plan was for food. She did suggest to order room service, but I never trust hotel food. They're normally overpriced and barely satisfactory in taste. Finally, she came running back to say that our friend ordered food in her room, and that we were invited to join them.

At that point, I'm thinking - "Did she say order food? But I thought they just checked-in? Didn't she say they brought food on their way here?" A bit fishy but I was hungry so I didn't ask anymore questions and followed.

When the door swung open, I was looking around the room for food only to spot a cake box with a knife-spatula taped on top. "You bought cake?" My friend who stayed in the room said this super suspicious and long, "Noooooooo." Then, out jumped everyone from the toilet, under the bed and the closet! Totally didn't expect them to be there! At best, I thought they'd pop by dinner because I knew a few of them were heading to PD for work and the other three said they were busy doing something else. But very pleasantly surprised! And you have to check out my designer cake. It's seriously the best combo of everything I love about cake: Macaroons in the shape of shuttlecocks and racket with earl grey filling on top of dark chocolate moist cake. Seriously O.M.G. dope.

(Thanks for such a cute birthday cake!!! Credits to the cake chef Aaron Quay from Pretty On Plate)

(The one in the closet - if I took a step forward, the door would have swung in my face...so good thing I didn't! Haha)

(I can't imagine how dusty it was down there, so I give props to you two! They definitely got me because I get the creeps seeing anything climb out under the bed!!!)

(My Malaysian Family - missing Jeslyn Pang)

After the surprise, we chilled by the pool waiting for the last member to arrive in PD. We got quite a scare because the hike was only supposed to take 6-8 hours, but now reaching 12 hours, we had still not heard or been able to call. Turned out, she was 2 hours behind due to partner-injury. So at least she was alright. When she arrived, we were all ready for the seafood feast! This is what happens when one of our friend's places order - she goes all out. Not to mention, she remembers what we all like to eat. Then she'd say, no one knows what I like to eat. Helloooo, we don't even get a chance! If we have to guess based on what you order, difficult la! That's like the whole menuuuuu. Okay, we will work on figuring out what you really like to eat - deal!

(Maybe we should've taken a photo before we devoured the food...)

Feeling like round balloons, we needed to go for a walk or coffee, so we did both! We dropped by MBA badminton hall, so we could finally see how the place looked like. A few played table tennis, and let's just say, my level of competitiveness is NORMAL among my friends. Not long, coffee was calling, so we drove to the ONLY Starbucks in PD. And you could tell it was the only one because the place was PACKED! We waited a while for seats, then another while for our drinks. Honestly, it seemed like the only legit place to hangout in PD at night!

Dropping by the petrol station for some snacks, we made our way back to the resort. Randomness kicked in again - we found ourselves at karaoke for a hour since we had vouchers as members. Odd enough, this place had much clearer speakers than some other places we've gone. One hour went by so quick, but at 1am, I felt exhausted and hungry. Not wanting to eat anymore food, I retired to my room, shower and slept. Obviously, the others had a different plan. Two actually went out to buy ikan while the other two swam at the 24hour pool. Yes, I admit I did say we should stay up all night to enjoy this resort, but my thyroids were protesting! Maybe next time when I'm in better health...

The next day started with growling stomachs. Luckily, two very kind ladies were already out buying breakfast! We ate by the pool even though the staff had said no outside food allowed. Well, technically, we weren't even by the pool. We were by a drinks shop that wasn't even open. Anyway, we quickly finished our food and hopped into the pool before check-out time at noon. There's just something about being in a pool during holidays. Like, if you didn't go for a dip, you didn't have a complete one. Weird thought but I think I'm starting to get that.

(No, she didn't really need that but that does remind me of those babies with donuts around their head! Cute~)

It's surprising how fast we get hungry during holidays! And our friends from the dualthon came back just in time. Unfortunately, their stay at Avillion was a disappointing one because there was a leak in the roof, and since it stormed during the night, you can imagine the amount of water that drizzled in. So they didn't have a good sleep, and had to wake up at 4ish to sign in for the race before 6am. It also didn't help that the tracks for both runners and bikers were too muddy due to the rain. Both came back covered in mud and in desperate need for a nice hot shower. BUT, it was already check-out time so if I'm not mistaken, they had showered in the hotel sauna area. The hotel did compensate with a 50% discount, but still. These kinds of bad experiences leave a mark and an unpleasant memory. Let's hope we were able to buffer that a little with all the good food and company though.

We had a lunch order even the staff at the restaurant were questioning whether we'd finish it all. But seriously, you don't question how much this group can eat - we CAN eat. Not to mention two peeps that just finished a crazy run-bike-run. Nothing can do what food does - bring us all together. And we finished what was left of the cake from last night. It was hilarious when the restaurant staff member brought over the cake and opened the box only to find it half eaten. He was so worried because he thought his people had eaten the cake! Good fun giving him a scare, but nah, we confessed eventually.

I couldn't have asked for a better weekend getaway surprise birthday celebration. Perhaps, maybe if I had been able to pull an all-nighter. Next time peeps, when I get better. Thanks for making the trip to PD and spending your weekend with me. I'm blessed to have such a close group of friends here in a foreign country that has now become my second home. I'm grateful for having such an awesome birthday cake to kick off the celebration this year. I'm thankful for everyone's time they have so willingly spent with me this past weekend.

(Once again, missing Jeslyn Pang!)

I feel so loved.
Thank you.

Catching Up With Life in [Taiwan] - Day 2

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Day 2 started with a loud "We're lateeeeeee" by le sister. Honestly didn't think I'd be sleeping until 11am. Maybe I was really tired! But yes, we had a date to meet up with the girls in Taipei at noon. Definitely wouldn't be possible because we have to take a bus to Taipei, and that would depend on traffic. Weekends can get really bad but luckily for us, it was a smooth ride. We were quite on time with our revised ETA of 12:30pm.

Which by the way, this is some serious good timing with Jenlo back from Vancouver, Apes dropping by from Hong Kong and me visiting from KL. If I'm not mistaken, the last time where all of us had been together with Wendy and Ivy was probably my grad photos back in 2010! Those were the days when we had all the time in the world to see each other, and only a drive away. Now, we need to fly in for a gathering. Lesson? Cherish those moments together!

We had lunch at this vegetarian restaurant called "A Little More Green", which literally had a seating plan of maximum 12 people. We had 5, so we took up about half their shop. Quite an interesting place for a light meal, but their coffee is too light for our group of coffee lovers. We had to go for another cuppa somewhere!

So basically, we ate our way through Taiwan while paying a visit to the memorial hall of Taiwan's founding father and a well-known local temple. Probably easier to SHOW you instead. Captions for the photos will come later on when I get on a laptop!

Oh, and I went to try on my dresses for my photoshoot next week! Surprisingly, the white dress was 10x easier to find than colored ones. I'll have 3 dresses and one casual wear in total. Now I know why it's such a challenge to find the right dress...because the audience is picky! But okay, at least they got taste, I'll give then that. Anyway, better not eat too much this week or else the tailor will have to do alot of tweaking! Kinda excited to do the shoot now :)

Early wake tomorrow for our flight to Macau! NIGHTS Peeps *snore*

(At 'A Little More Green' for breakkie with the girls! From L: Me, Wendy, Jenlo, Apes and le sister)

(Elementary school buds Apes and Jenlo)

(Don't ask why they were posing in front of Muji...)

(Mocha cake with iced latte at Light One Plus ~ not bad if I must say so myself)

(Yes, we went for a little walk at Zhong Zheng Memorial Hall~ First time ever...)

(It's so easy to travel with peeps who are all okay to buy the same drink to get a discount!)

(Stinky Tofu time!)

(Ivy insisted on having guabao...even though we're like so the full)

(Couldn't say no to shaved ice!)

(Trying out dresses for my photoshoot next week. I really like this red one~ reminds me of the movie 'Me Before You' eh)

Clubbing Age

Dear Pipsqueaks,

No time to get on the computer so I'm going back to my old blogging days of writing my posts on my phone (while I did the stepper in the gym). So forgive me for any typos!

Ever since I could remember, this friend of mine had wanted to go clubbing for her birthday. We kept missing the chance to go - especially with a discouraging group of oldies who would rather go chillax at a lounge. But we said we will so we shall! We scheduled a clubbing night last Friday to celebrate her birthday (today Sunday).

Because all of us are really not in the loop anymore about which club is better nowadays, so we went for the closest one to home in case we get really knocked out - The Roof near One World Hotel. Most of us dressed for the occasion as there are dress codes about what one can wear into a night club. For example, no sandals, shorts or jeans. Why the dress code you ask? So you don't get a bunch of fashion mis-fits in the crowd. Not to mention it's definitely not a good idea to be wearing any open-toed shoes unless you don't mind getting stepped on by 6 inch heels every other minute. Meh.

So anyway, we got a cocktail table near an elevated platform close the dance floor. I did warn my friends that the dance floor will be empty until maybe 1am, and I was right. People just aren't drunk enough to bravely hit the dance floor. Okay, maybe I'm only half correct that the dance floor was empty. It was a bit crowded but not of people dancing - it was full of boys waiting for the pro comic-uniform dancer to storm the stage and show off their super sexy moves. It also didn't help that they pour free whiskey for those in front of the crowd. Hence, no space on the dance floor to dance!

And I thought my younger days were bad. We pretty much had a circle of boys standing around the dance floor scanning for their prey of the evening. Now, they boys aren't even interested in the girls - they're waiting to drool over the pros. Sad case.

What was the worst part of the whole evening? We couldn't even find ONE suitable guy for the birthday girl. The club was just too young! Some of them look barely legal enough to be in a club. So much for finding her a fling for the night. Sigh.

So what did we learn from a night at The Roof?
  1. Music wasn't to our taste - definitely prefer house music over techno or whatever the heck kids dance to these days.
  2. Crowd is too young to be fun - a more mature crowd would be more exciting.
  3. Dance floor is too small - all the standing boys took up half the space! Where to dance?!
  4. Wear dancing shoes - heels look great but they kill your feet!
  5. Party doesn't really start until 1am.
  6. Get a proper table so our senior citizens can have a seat!

We joked about this but seriously, they should have senior citizen entries for our 30+ who just want to go there and drink while chillaxing with friends. I shall be joining that group soon but I think I'm always up to hit the dance floor when the music suits my mood!

But lesson learned - let's stick with Zouk. At least there are four different dance floors with a range of music we can choose from. Maybe for my birthday then!

Going back to resting - a night out takes more to recover now! Ciao~
(Will add some photos shortly~)

Winter Wonderland: Contiki

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Continuing on to pour all my writing onto my blog - a poem I wrote after our 'Winter Wonderland: European Tour" with Contiki. Reading this still brings me right back. Let me take you on a flashback...

our worlds met at the london pub
no one thought a second more
loaded the bus and off to explore

amsterdam's red lights and our awkward ice-breaker
sure many guys were itching to experience the "culture"

berlin's dark histories of brutal slaying
to remember or forget has brought mixed feelings

prague's magnificant castle and massive coins
and a church that took 800yrs to adjoin

innusbruck's collection of beautiful swarvoski
made our christmas even more dreamy

munich's bike tour blessed by good weather
beautiful sites and some gutsy members

venice's gondola was the couple's best memory
xmas eve's sudden snowflakes was our best merry

rome's ancient scenary was a breath-taker
nearly frozen, gelato was a must and as good as ever

vatican city was a long wait in rain for what seemed like miles
but nonetheless the majestic st.paul + pope made it all worth while

florence's david seems the perfect man, but not quite
karaoki bar and one litre daiquiris made the night

ferrari's awesome cars were a shocking display
even the girls had much to say

lucerne's new year's eve party was priceless
chilled at the highest bar in europe on mount titlus

paris's triomph arc had the best view of eiffle
moulin rough's performance was tempting and playful

thought this trip couldn't get any better
chemistry sparked and brought us closer
can't believe our three weeks ended
now more than ever i feel binded

holding on to the memories tight
for our european trip was the adventure of a life time

Thanks, [2014] => Let's go, [2015]

Dear Pipsqueaks,

To be honest, I can't believe it's already time to write a reflection post for the year. 2014 felt like a very blur 365 days with no major happenings, but when I start to dive into the months, then flashbacks come to me...

Jan - Flew back to TPE to visit the family for CNY; always good to to see them during these holidays even though we don't do anything special. It's just good to hangout. Also gave my sister her ipad mini Christmas present. I'm not one for expensive presents, but I like giving something useful. See, normally I would be the one entertaining my sister either going out shopping together or trying a new restaurant together. We did everything together, and now that I'm not around, I can only provide her with some form of entertainment...except she uses that to play games and watch movie previews *faint* Oh wells, as long as she's happy with it.

Summer Vacation Part I - [London & Leeds]

Dear pipsqueaks,

It certainly didn't feel like it had been two years since the last time I was in the UK. Okay, Birmingham doesn't count because I was here for a meeting and when I was out of the hotel, I was mostly at the stadium watching All England matches. That trip brings back horrendous memories of a bloody photographer who “threatened” to throw me out of the venue not knowing who I was. Now come to think of it, I really should have just let him TRY to throw me out of one of our own tournaments. Of course, I’m not going to start stereotyping but UK peeps haven’t really impressed me of late. Therefore, another one shouldn't be a surprise.

Anyways, SUPER off-topic. This time around, you could say I had a very relaxing time just following a friend around. We landed in the bustling London Heathrow, which by the way I must mention - I’m not sure what the mentality of the immigration process is, but at least the officer I met seriously didn't make me feel welcomed.  Okay, I get that they have a very important job of manning the security of the country, but they are also the first faces upon arrival. Even the way the questions are asked can be tweaked in such a way that people don’t feel interrogated. I mean, what part of my passport and my person hint you that I could be a potential threat? No, really. Do tell me. Honestly, I don’t agree that anyone should be treated this way unless there are reasons to believe otherwise. Anyhow, it was definitely two worlds from my landing for the London Games as a member of the Games Family two years ago. Let’s just say, as much as I enjoy the look and feel of UK, I can get the same if not better in Canada without having to deal with some snobby locals.

Stranded

Dear Pipsqueaks,

"Oh man. I'm scared."

That moment, throughout the whole event, stood out the most for me. What happened? Well, it all started with a random call for 'Seafood by the Sea' dinner in Klang.

We all met up and took one full van-load of 6 adults + 2 kids. Guided by Google Map, we got lost the first time - it took us to some temple instead- but eventually we made enough loops to take us in the right direction. Honestly,  I don't remember much of dinner as I had to post the final results of our Junior championships that just concluded in Bangkok a couple of hours ago. (Yes, that's the most 'updated' we can be since I work offsite - have to wait for photos and do some research before posting just to give enough background info. People assume it to be an easy job, but let me assure you that it takes a little something more to sound make something sound remotely exciting without actually seeing any of it happening. Thanks to my imagination, I can whip up one or two here and there).

Anyway, so off topic already. As I was saying, dinner went by so quick that by the time I realised what I was eating, we were about done. Since someone had mentioned to drop by i-City when we passed it earlier, we thought why not as it's on our way home. Destination entered and off we went.

It thundered during the first few minutes of our drive. Then joined by droplets, which soon turned into heavy rain. By then, we could only see the distance of maybe about a car or two. Following ever so closely to Google, it led us down a dark and trafficless industrial parkside road. At that exact moment, I remember we were still singing along emotionally to Adele's "Make you feel my love", when all of a sudden, our car was half-deep in water. The co-driver panickally advised the driver to get out of the water before it sinks into the engine, but realising the distance to get out of the water going forward was a long one, she decided to do a u-turn instead. Without having much vision at all, the vehicle actually rammed right up the sidewalk and down, probably forcing more water up the engine. By the time we made a full 180 degrees, the engine died.

What To Do With Exes

Dear pipsqueaks,

Not until recently have I met a few people who have got me thinking about exes again. No, not that kind of thinking. Not the lovey-dovey, reminiscing thinking, but rather, the "how come we're not even friends anymore" thinking. Actually, now that I wander back, I have not been able to keep any one of them. Not even one. Okay, maybe the last one but he's a different case.

Why is it that they all run from me? Why can't we still be friends? Isn't it such a waste of a relationship to go from everything to nothing? Do they honestly hate me that much not to want any kind of connection to me other than being in each other's memories?

This phenomenon used to baffle me to the point where even I get mad for their "child-like" reactions. The "if she's going, I'm not" or the "silent treatment". Honestly, does it have to be this all or nothing ultimatum? It didn't work out. Isn't that bad enough we couldn't make it work? Why go a step further to isolate yourself from me than to go through it together? You aren't alone. If anything, I'd be the person to understand exactly how you feel. Don't you think?

Love Is...

Dear pipsqueaks,

When approached with this question, I always find myself stumbling to find the right answer. Then, I remember my poster in my old Vancouver bedroom. I've never been a religious person, but that doesn't mean I don't reflect on the teachings of the different "teachers". So, this one seemed to answer the question quite well - for me anyway...

"What is love?"

1 Corinthians 13:4-7Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

What is love for you?

Side note: I need to find this poster...time to dig into all my boxes!

Wedding Bells & Hardcore Fans - Jakarta 2013

Dear pipsqueaks,

It's been so hectic that I couldn't find the time to write, and I feel disappointed that I haven't. No worries though. I'm super determined to recap my trip to Jakarta just last week for Vivian姊姊's wedding and Indonesia Open. Briefly thinking back, so much had happened within the 4-day trip. Going to do justice to this trip, I'll do a proper write up some time tomorrow. Can't wait! Why? Somehow, it only feels official when it's written. Black and white. Seriously, look what work has done to me! Anyway, update at the soonest :)

Jessy, outs!

When You're Ready

Dear Pipsqueaks,

The pride in being able to drill out any secret has, in many ways, been how my "Drama Queen" self functioned. Though, it isn't always about gossip - mind you, it's only because I cared enough to ask.

However, it's about time to set that personality aside. Why? Is it not true that if one never asks, there will never be an answer? And if one must know, one must ask?

Yet, I fail to remember that as human beings, we are naturally programmed to bond and to crave for social interactions. How does that relate to this whole "asking questions" you're thinking to yourself? Well, look at it this way. Do you always wait until your best friend asks you a question before you tell her things? Do you hold on to information, so to share it only when someone asks? No, you don't. As social beings, we can't wait to tell someone before it burst out! At least, to tell someone that matters.

Life's Surprises

Dear pipsqueaks,

Just this Friday as the clock turned 11:57pm, the almost never-rung doorbell of my home ding-donged. I remember brushing it off as next door's ring, but felt I should at least go take a look in case anything happens. It's just abnormal at this hour for anyone to be visiting. So I sneaked quietly to the door, trying to take a peek through the hole to see who it could be at this hour, only to find the hole blocked. If I were home alone, I would probably have freaked out by then, but luckily, I wasn't.

Then, all of a sudden, light came through. I could make out a face hiding behind a white camera. Could this be...?!

So Far into 2013

Dear pipsqueaks,

It's been a long while since my last update, but I assure you, I'm ALIVE! The days have been filled with catching up at work and with friends since my return from CNY in Taiwan. Honestly feels like time has been doing laps around me. All of a sudden, we're coming to March! No sooner had I unpacked my luggage, I will be packing for Lausanne...

Those who sourly congratulate me for work traveling, you don't know half the story. From contemplating what to pack, to actually packing, to lacking sleep due to over-thinking, to waking up early for final packing, to rushing breakfast, to hopping on a 1hr taxi to the airport hoping there's no traffic, to successfully checking in my luggage without over-weighing, to trying to catch some zZz on the flight, to landing and finding my luggage on the belt, to organizing transportation to the hotel, and finally checking into my room without any glitch. Then, the REAL work begins.
