Dear Pipsqueaks,
Honestly speaking, I did see half of these proposals coming. But, they still make me tear a bit seeing them come true. First, in Feb, my distant cousin Wendy (I say that because her last name is also Sung). In May, my highschool friend Carmen who still remains very close even though we rarely see each other. In June, one of my closest friends Tania who's just an amazing amazing person. In July, my childhood Moles teacher and BFF Tamzie. In Aug, one of my sister's friends who makes time to see me when I'm back in TPE and is just a super nice person Jeannie; and just a few days ago, an old badminton friend Toby proposed to his long time girlfriend Carmen in London.
Actually, now come to think of it, all these relationships have been long ones. And that's why it means so much more to see it come to fruition. I don't think I've been there for most of their ups and downs but I've heard enough to know it certainly weren't easy. Every relationship has their challenges, and I'm just glad they were able to make it through together.
Time really flies, and now I'm marrying off more than half of my close girlfriends. A little hard to admit it's all really happening, but hey I'm a proud friend. Look how far we've come - a childhood full of memories. I suppose it just feels like I'm gonna lose them to married life, but I know it's just me being me. I'm sure they'll still make time for me. Here's to our childhood - from girls to ladies to wives-to-be...
I'm hoping I didn't miss any, but as you can see, 2017 is a busy year for proposals. And guess what, it's only August! I wouldn't be surprised if we get more good news in the coming 4 months. I'm not sure what it is about proposals that make me so excited. I get this burst of happiness that just gives me the tingles. It immediately makes my day, and perhaps cry a little (happy tears, of course).
Maybe it's the whole 'finally, they made it to this day'. A day that most people would have thought through god-knows how many times. When will it happen, and how it'll all go down. Just absolutely magical. Somehow, this makes me want to be a proposal/wedding planner. Can you imagine your job is to make dreams come true? That does sound a bit Disney but you know what I mean.
Then, there are those who got married this year! My 2004 World Junior friend Huan and my elementary school BFF Jenlo. I did manage to make a quick getaway to Gaohsiong to attend Huan's wedding in Feb, but wasn't able to skip away to Jenlo's Van or Tpe wedding. Hopefully, she'll allow me to make it up to her when we next meet...
I can't express how happy I am for you - my ladies - in finding their Mr. Rights. I wish you all the best in your new adventures and I promise I'll be the best auntie Jessy ever. And no, I won't secretly bring your kids chocolate. I'll behave...or I'll try to behave. I may not be around all the time, but I will try to be there for you. That, you can count on. May you all live happily ever after *kisses*
Just wanted to share a little bit of joy with my readers, and I hope that we all find the happiness we deserve. I have found mine, so I'm gonna hold on to him tight. And yes, it's Valentine's Day every day when you find love.
Nights for now - from Glasgow!
