Dear Pipsqueaks,
Ever since the first time I moved house, I concluded that Starbucks mugs are just too difficult to transport. They look great but honestly too much work to maintain a collection.
So what's the alternative? Starbucks cards!!!
They're light and super easy to keep. Not to mention the new Starbucks card holders that you can trade for this month. It's a must-have item for card collectors.
The challenge: buying 12 grande drinks in less than 36 hours. The deadline was today. BUT luckily, I have an amazing group of friends who went out of their way last night to put in another 8 drinks on top of my 2 drinks. All I needed was another 2 and the book was mine! So no time to waste, I went straight for another 2 drinks after lunch with a colleague to collect my book! I was the happiest girl.
Then, I found out they had extended the deadline from the 15th to the 30th of June...
First thought: I felt bad because my groupie deliberately went to drink 8 cups last night just so I can get the book todayyyy. But okay, it wasn't like I knew that would happen so nothing I could do. Except to appreciate all their contribution to me getting the card holder!
After dinner, we met up with another friend at Starbucks who was after their ground coffee bits. I guess it was just something funny to joke about at first - to try and get points by approaching people who were paying cash at the counter so we can collect their points. Turned out, there was a guy that had cash in his hand just as we were discussing this...soooo I decided to take the chance!
"Hey, do you have a Starbucks card?"
"Yes, I do have one."
"Oh, it's alright then. I wanted to see if you could buy your drink with my card so I can collect enough points for the card holder. No worries then." (Walking back to my seat)
"Well, I have two. You can have them?"
Thinking that he had two points - and you can't transfer points - so I said, "No, it's okay. You can't transfer points. No worries."
"Oh, alright."
Then, the guy went on to buy his drink...and the next thing I know, he was walking towards me with TWO card holders in his hand and offered one to me. Actually, I was still in a state of shock because I didn't think he meant two books! But he held the book in front of me waiting for me to take it...so I took it - with a super big smile!
Definitely didn't expect that after all the troubles my friends had gone through for me to get my first book! Well, it's good I got two because after slotting in all my cards, the first book only has 2 slots left.
(To the random but oh so very kind gentleman: THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DAYYYY!)
(A small collection of 28 and more to come!)
PS. And this goes to show that the saying can't be more true: If you don't ask, then the answer is always a no. Just askkkkk~ you never know!
