Dear Pipsqueaks,
Thank Goodness It's Friday! Sure feels like lots had happened since I last updated, so I'm not quite sure what I'd shared and what I haven't, but will share what I can remember.
Firstly, a close friend of mine had gone into surgery early this week and now is recovering well. That's always good to hear, and an even bigger motivation to keep myself in good health. Yes, I've been doing a lot more running but I'm not sure if my right knee and left ankle can handle this weight (haha, ironic that I need them to lose this weight first in order to lighten the load!) But so far so good! The only worry is that for the 3/4 of August, I'll be on the move. So not sure how to keep this level up, but will find a way! As they say, "Where there is a will, there is a way!"
About turning 30 - I'm not quite sure what to think of it, and perhaps it's not that big of a deal as I thought it would be. Actually, I don't feel any different than when I celebrated my 25th. But I suppose it should be important - in that I officially am OLD. I won't be able to play the cute card as innocently as I used to, haha. Just kidding, I'd still try my hand anyway: there will be takers!
Speaking of celebration, I had wanted to go some place I've never been to just to let the number sink in on my own. Reflect on the last thirty years of my life - the ups and the downs, what I've learned, what I could've done better, what more I could do, etc. They say you should never look back, but I think that's not entirely correct. You should never look back - but if you do, it should only be to see how far you've come.
Unexpectedly, I had gone with the complete opposite of a place I've never been to - I'm going home. For the last six years I've been working in Malaysia, I don't recall going home for my birthday...
2011 - KL
2012 - London Olympic Games
2013 - Guangzhou World Championships
2014 - KL
2015 - Jakarta World Championships
2016 - Rio Olympic Games
So yes, I'm heading to the family. Even though my parents don't really celebrate my Gregorian calendar birthday because they prefer to celebrate my Lunar birthday. Meh, the two are only a few days apart this year anyway, so cake it is! The parents don't know yet, so it'll be a good surprise when le sis brings me home. Best part, she offered to come and fetch me from the airport and have devised a plan to take the family car without parents noticing. We shall see how her plan rolls out.
Always happy to go home and spend time with the family. Not to mention, le bff said she'd drop by just to count down. Honestly, I'm so blessed. I couldn't ask for more - though there is that one tiny wish - but I can wait for that one. Slow and steady.
Anywhoos, gotta head to bed and will keep you peeps posted on this special celebration season.
Lots of love!
