Haven't had the time or the brains to update in a while! Though, I do need to point out that I don't like to write about mindless things. So, if I don't have a strong idea, I'd rather leave it until I do to craft a meaningful post.
So, what's happening tomorrow? I'm leaving for LONDON! It's been a wait for what seemed like ages, but nevertheless, it's here. The London 2012 Olympic Games. Do not think for a moment that this is only an Olympic Games. It's more than just that. For some, it's a lifetime wait to participate in the most prestigious sporting event- and possibly never get the chance to. For some, it's a dream come true. Of course, we're not only talking about athletes now. Some people NEED to feed off this extraordinary energy that can only be generated from these Games: ME!
For the oddest reason, I can tear from the simplest infomercial, as simple as a recap of an athlete crossing the finish line. A zoom up of their expression as the crowd cheers, or, well, literally anything! Actually, I find myself at a complete awe for the amount of dedication and hard work that these athletes put themselves through to make it here. To represent not only themselves, but their nation (let's not mention the pressure of such spotlight that comes with the package). To compete among the best in their respective events. It's truly a qualification of honourous proportions. That's what touches me. But then again, this one isn't really about that either...I just like it! (Maybe it's just because it's Canadian :P)
Surprisingly, there wasn't that chaos at the office I've been expecting. The calmness feels almost overwhelming. It's obviously not something to get used to as we will be entering a city packed with exciting athletes and spectators. Not to mention the work force behind the Games. It'll be as the Chinese would say, "Mountain People, Mountain Sea." Luckily, I have my Olympic experience back at home during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, so there's really no need to panic. I think.
Anyways, gotta finish up all the packing and get ready for tomorrow's 13-hour flight! Wish me luck at the Olympic Games- of course, not for competition but for work. I mean, who knows what will happen?! Hopefully, everything will go as planned, but we know it's never the case! Ready for battle? Sure am.
(Bought this just to record the Games!)
The ability to bring together all nations is the beauty of sports. The competition is the gathering. The game is the language. (14.8.11)
