In The Shower

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Just as multi-billion dollar contracts can be negotiated or even signed over a lounge table, many things can happen during that shower of yours. What? Apart from the obvious- cleaning yourself- I'm sure most people are half-heartly doing something else. (I'm hoping you're at least half-heartedly showering or else you'll be in there for a looooong time more when you realise you've been shampoolessly smooshing your hair). So what else could you be doing?

Some sing. It's the most bizarre thing- or possibly some complex scientific reasoning- but your vocals just sound that much better with the running water. Or when it's neutralised while cruising through the steam. Or how it bounces off the damp walls. I could make random guesses until the cows come home, but just believe me- if you want to boost your confidence in singing, start in the shower.

Some go into zombie-mode, meaning routinely executing what you always do. Shampoo, rinse, conditioner, face wash, rinse all, body, then final rinse. It happens everyday that you can do it automatically without realizing it. Sometimes, I can walk out of the shower wondering whether I conditioned my hair or not. Then, being me, I'd go back in just to condition my hair. Such a hassle when that happens! Though, it can be a good thing when I'm too lazy to do anything- I can be done with shower feeling as if I didn't have to do a thing. Yes, don't judge.

Some ponder. If I could physically draw out a network of how thoughts weave their ways through every corner of your mind, it would be such a cool sight! (That reminds me of the 3D pen being able to literally draw out a free-standing hologramic image- could come in handy). From an email about a meeting can take me all the way from meeting in Bangkok to Thailand to some person to some feelings. Or, from a task to London Games to Rio to what I want to do with my life. The mind can sure take one on a stroll around the universe in a short span on 10 minutes. Think about what a bath could do...you could make laps! Just kidding. More likely than not, you'd be in Lala Land dreaming up a storm.

In a relaxing state, we are better-abled to let down our guards, our walls, our chains and allow thoughts to grow. Allow reflections, allow re-considerations, allow re-evaluations. All sorts of reviews. It's actually quite an important process in life, to review. As the wise would say, "those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it". In our terms, those who do not learn from their own actions are doomed to let it happen, again. What better way to learn from our mistakes than to review them. To comb through the details piece by piece until we come to a full understanding that you can explain it to others. You don't actually have to- that's just in reference to how they say, if you can explain it, then you understand it.

So to grow, one must reflect. As I am now, but I'm not actually physically IN the shower. However, these thoughts were amplified during my bubble session, and shared now. In sharing, it helps me to review my thoughts too. See, I'm growing already. Are you just going to stand there and watch me grow or grow with me?

Summary: showers are a great place to practice multi-tasking, or to relax and reflect.
