CNY2017: Doctors' Visits

Dear Pipsqueaks,

Definitely one of the longest 'first days' back ever in the history of visits. The day started around 5:30am when my mama came knocking on the door to wake me up. Yes, you read correctly - 5:30am. Why? Because le sister arrived back from Vancouver. Half awake, I rolled myself out of the comfy bed, brushed up and was down in 5mins. Didn't even care too much about what the heck I was wearing as we're going to the hospital for a follow up after the airport.

The only thing was that my parents actually picked out the wrong person at the waiting area thinking it was my sister. Can't believe these two! How can they not know which is their daughter?! Sigh. Anyhoos, I told le sister and she gave them a piece of her mind for thinking she was that larger girl in the front.

By then, it was about 8am and still loads of time before my doctors' appointments. We decided to hang out by 7-11 as the area the hospital was located in was just too confusing. Kind of like Sunway, this Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is a few buildings in their own territory of land. They have research and technology buildings as well as medical training facilities. Just a huge medical park basically. Not to mention, they simply did not make any plans for transport - we literally jammed all the way in and out of the medical park. I wonder if they ever thought about how ambulances are going to make it to the emergency through these jams?

Anyway, when we did finally get to the parking and found the correct building and department, it was like doing a lap from old wing to new wing to old wing of 1 Utama (it's one of the biggest malls in Asia if I'm not mistaken). And you would NOT BELIEVE how many people were there! It was the kind of crowd you would expect at the mall during the weekends. It was THAT busy. Ridiculous how so many people could be sick at the same time. Just people mountain people see. Literally. But okay, we got our number and saw the doctor...only for her to tell me it was the WRONG DEPARTMENT. I'm like, you've gotta be kidding me?! They can't even make the right recommendations on their websites for appointments.

Then, another OMG moment. The second doctor checked my thyroids and said, "Okay, looks normal. Come back in say, 2 months, to do the ultrasound." I was sitting there with both my eyebrows up. What two months? I can SEE the damn ultrasound room just outside. Why the heck do I have to wait 2 months to do it?! It doesn't even make any sense that I'd have to wait 2 months for it when he KNOWS I need to do the follow up. In comparison, I can walk into Tongshin, see a doctor, get an ultrasound done, and then see the same doctor again for debrief. Something about this very inefficient process that is happening in this supposed efficient country annoys me.

So, I'm gonna do the scans back in KL. Not going to waste another 4 hours only to 'see' the doctor and not being able to do the actual scans. WASTE TIME ONLY.

How to cheer us up? EAT & SHOP. We drove straight to the nearest Mitsui Outlet Park for Pork Chop lunch and then went mad shopping. Bought some shoes and a pair of sunglasses. Quite happy now :) Jammed our way home, and now resting the feet before we head to the night market! Now that I mention it, I'm hungry.

Going, going, gone!
Yum time.
