Happy Dragon Year

Another year flew past
The celebrations begin
Though we're closer than last
Still a ways to drop in
No matter the distance
We've managed so far
It's good to see your faces
To Skype under the same star
I'm sure by now you'd realize
Where I'd rather be
But we'll just have to improvise
Until our next meet
So for now I must bid adieu
With all my best wishes
To my dearest home crew
I really do miss you

Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!

It's been a very long n quite simply CNY for me this year in Malaysia. Apart from the company dinner where we actually went for Chinese Food n did all the "Yee Sang" for good luck, there wasn't much of a celebration-feel. Possibly because it's a very family-oriented holiday. Even so, we did schedule some family time on Skype to share the "CNY Eve" dinner. Let's just say, I missed out on some of my favourite home-cooked food *pout*. Oh wells, next year. I guess u'd ask why I didn't just fly over as I had 4 days in total, but I mean, if I did the calculations counting in all the travel times, I'd spent a day just traveling. AND I'd have to make my way back by mid-lunch on Tuesday when I'd only have arrived Friday late night. 3 full days. Now that I think back, I do regret not making the trip, but as I'll be traveling very soon (early Feb), it was probably a good idea to stay put n rest up. But overall, u can feel that this isn't as commercialized of a holiday as Christmas and New Year. People do actually close shop (even in huge shopping malls) n celebrate with family- thanks for respecting the holiday, although I'm sad to say that's on the contrary for the other ones. In any case, it was fun just to see what CNY's like in Malaysia n now that's done n checked, I'll most likely fly off to meet up with the crew next year.

Side note: for some odd reason, this morning's wake up call didn't come from my alarm clock. Instead, it was from the drums n bells that usually accompanied dragon dances. Except, it sounded like the beats were roaming through the corridors of our apartment/hotel. Of course, I wanted to go outside n knock everyone out for waking me up half an hour earlier, but eh, what the heck! It's as CNY as it can get! Thanks for tingling some CNY in me. Until next year...
