Having just watched the much-anticipated first episode of the final season of Desperate Housewives (on Malaysian TV channel), the catch-line's just stuck in my head...
"Friends are the ones that stay behind to help clean up the mess..."- with reference to the dead body hidden in the living room table box.
Oddly enough, I don't think I've written anything about how amazing my friends are. Most of them have been around for ages, but that's never an excuse to take them for granted. Thinking back, I do have some of the most patient, daring, n supportive friends. Here are just some anonymous shout outs for those that remember the time when...
U know u've got a friend when:
U know u've got friends when they:
- she sits from sun up to sun down in front of the swing set patiently explaining to u how to calculate "moles"
- she stays in the aircon-less guest room (because her room could only fit one) just to spend the whole night chatting
- she comes to ur rescue at any time of the day
- she takes over all management as u fall sick during a trip, stays in the villa just to watch over u, n leaves no fault on u for missing out bali
- she gets jealous of a new friend of urs
- she tells u straight out when ur being an obnoxious b*tch
- she patiently listens to all ur blabs over a 5 hour bubble tea session
- he drives u home from his house, which is a loop from one end of the city to the other
- he steps out to do something stupid that u just did so u didn't have to look stupid alone
- he drives 3 different beaches just to join u for the end of a Saturday volley ball game
- he makes time out of his random schedule to show u around the city n shares the dessert u ordered even though he doesn't like sweets
- ur the first person she thinks of to substitute her brother for a family trip
- ur the first person she shares any news with, good or bad
- reveal nothing under interrogation (ex. when we totally destroyed the girl's washroom by throwing up wet tissue n were all brought into the principal's office. when asked who's idea was it, no one said a word)
- go for midnight desserts just because u crave for something sweet
- dress up semi-formal in freezing temperatures n make it to the top of a mountain just to be at ur graduation
- come see u off at the airport before u leave to work in another country (usually past midnight flights, so sacrificing sleep!)
...and the list goes on n on. What I'm trying to say is, real friends are the ones that u can undoubtedly say will stand tall n proud next to u through thick n thin anytime anywhere under any circumstances. At the same time, rather than telling u what u like to hear, they'd tell u want u need to hear. They'll be the ones to give u a lecture before saving ur shiny bottoms. They'll be the ones u can bet ur life on because u know they'll be just as willing to do the same for u.
