See But No Play in [Bangkok]: Day 5

Dear pipsqueaks,

Looking at my schedule, today could be the more "free" day for me, with only a 2-hour duty just after lunch. It would have been nice to join the group heading to the Floating Market, but as there was no guarantee when they will return (approximately 1pm or later depending on traffic), there was no way I could go knowing I will most likely be late for work. So, the responsible me said no. On the bright side, I did get to sleep in a little longer, take my time at breakfast, and write a post all before duty.

After checking with my boss that he wouldn't need me post-duty, I decided to squish in a Thai massage between the end of my duty and the dinner cruise departing at 5:30. Hearing about this "Health Land" for the millionth time, it was finally my turn to check it out. Honestly one of the most organised massage places ever. A huge stand-alone building, its services ranged from short foot massages to full on body scrub. As we were pressed for time, a 90-minute full body massage was the most we could do. So, in a rush, we were hurried into our private rooms and the rest of the world was quickly forgotten for the next 1.5 hour...

(Just look at this super pro-looking massage place. Keep in mind, it's a legit massage place...so not where you would go looking for happy endings!)

(Jessy is unavailable for the next 1.5hrs...)

Slowly coming to my senses, I realized the time had ran through my fingers like sand, and was now closing 5pm! Problem: the bus was to leave at 5:30 sharp from the hotel, and as I didn't want anyone to know that I had slipped out for a massage, walking into a lobby full of our people would be least favorable  Problem 2: I couldn't find my friend anywhere in the waiting area- suppose he was still taking a shower- so I left him a quick note to say that I've gone back to the hotel for the shower instead- though, I'm uncertain to what extent the ladies understood a word I said. I did feel bad about "ditching" him but I'm sure he'll understand...Never would I thought I had to be in such a panic running through the streets of Bangkok right after a comfortable massage. Oh wells, that was for my horrendous planning!

Quickly zipping through the lobby crossing my fingers not to see anyone- which obviously didn't work as I passed about a dozen of them- I took the fastest shower ever in the history of Jessy's showers, hopped into my jean-like Armani dress, packed my computer (because I saw an email coming in from my boss requesting for me to check a document urgently, and as I'm a dedicated PA, I shall do as requested), and ran downstairs to join the group. Finally reaching the lobby, I caught the end of the crowd boarding our bus...and then to see my boss sitting on the couch by the side. Of course, I had to check with him before heading off. Dropping the bomb, he had informed me that this document needed to be sent out ASAP- by that, I knew the chances of me going on the dinner cruise were gone. It did sting a little but I gotta do what I gotta do, and so I sunk into the couch to read the document quietly. Then, my coworker came by and asked if I were coming along, but just before I could answer for myself, my boss spoke, "Yah, she's just checking this document for me. Should be done in 5 minutes?" He questioned as he looked my way. I thought, "Hm, he didn't mean to keep me..." Then again, my boss had always been okay with me attending these social events as long as I finish what he needed me to do. So as soon as I completed the check, we were on our way!

Except, the bus had left already. Great mother of pearls, another night of public transit in my event outfit. No worries though, as long as I wasn't in heels. We finally caught up to the group on our privately booked cruise, and enjoyed a meal of seafood among the beautiful night scene.

With a long day ahead tomorrow, I had thought to just call it a night. But with an offer to check out the famous Cowboy street, I changed my mind. Actually, the only reason why I changed my mind was because I wouldn't want to go by myself. If no one were to accompany me, then I'll probably never see the scandalous night life that Bangkok's known for. So, we made our way and reached within 10 minutes from our hotel. The streets were jam-packed with tourists and girls in all kinds of dress up. After contemplating whether we should check out a show, the decision had come down to "Yes, we should since we're already here". Buying a 160thb drink, we watched the famous "Ping Pong Show" and a variety of other very "interesting and creative" performances. It was quite entertaining to observe the behaviors of the male in this type of environment...Conclusion: you should at least see it once for the experience. Let's just say, it wasn't as "bizarre" as how these shows had been described to me, but I think once is enough.

(Where are the cowboys...? Though, I believe that term is used for the direct comparison of the ladies of the night?)

(How do you know how many I can handle?!)

The night ended with a quick shower and a sweet good night from le bf. It did make me wonder whether I would be comfortable with him coming here with his group of guy friends...a group of guys together is always dangerous! ;P Though, it could be interesting to see what may happen...

Anyway, good night from Bangkok y'all~
