Ex-Clubber Phase

Dear pipsqueaks,

With my ears still ringing, throat still sore, and a piece of skin scrapped off on my left foot by my sandels, I've come to realize clubbing is really past my time. Of course, it wasn't always this bad to recover from a night out, but at my age, it's no longer that easy. Having slept at close to 6am, somehow, I just couldn't fall back to sleep when I woke at 11am. Mother of pearls. With lots to do on a Saturday, this is gonna be a painful weekend. Even so, I had such an awesome time last night- or should I say this morning- at Zouk that I'll definitely take my visiting friends there for sure!

Being the first time to go clubbing in KL for me, I'm quite glad it was at Zouk. Supposidly, it's the place to be on a Friday- or clubbing- night! Of course, yesterday wasn't just any Friday. It was also 11.11.2011, n of course, u can imagine the crowd of people screaming for an excuse to go crazy (mostly stressed out office peeps like moi). It's like giving a cage full of babies raining showers of pacifiers: u can expect a party for sure. Knowing only that it was a club with four dance floors- n the fact that clubs don't have that much of an effect on me as long as I'm with the right crowd, aka. willing to go full out at the bar n on the dance floor- it was just "hmm" for me when we reached the door. I don't remember much of what happened by then because that was probably when my litre of beer kicked in- yes, I can't take beer for the life of me, n if anything, I'd prefer quick n easy shots.

Once inside, I'd have to say, it was a good atmosphere n layout with lots of space to mingle n dance. I'm sure u know how important layout is. When the dance floor is the size of a 4-stall washroom, it should just be called "wasted" space, because there's no way for people to dance there without getting their foot stabbed by heels, poked by cigarettes, or spilled on by drinks (top 3 most annoying things to happen at a club by rank, although I'd have to say, maybe foot stabbed by heels' a little better than poked by cigarettes at times). But yes, it had lots of tunnels leading to different zones n it was fun just to zoom around between the dance floors for the different kinds of music. The crowd was aged-appropriate- unlike what u'd see desperate clubs do when they want to pump the crowd- n rather well-mannered- no roughs or fights which are rather quite frequent in Vancouver clubs. Overall, a very good first impression n I'd definitely will take my sister there when she comes in December! Although, she'd be only one peep of my usual clubbing entourage, it's better than none! Plus my two frenchie bros? I feel another crazy night coming up soon! :P

(ready to dance?! - regretting the sandals...)

P.S. Of course, on any night out, u'd expect to find someone that'll catch ur eyes. So I'm not gonna lie, he was quite the odd one out. Standing away from his groupie, I thought he looked so depressing for someone who's in a club. Gathering all my courage because I'd never do this, I walked over n asked if he were alright, n blah blah chitchat, n no duh, the first thing he asked was, "where are u from?". No seriously? How do people know that I'm not local? Apart from my sandals, I was wearing what I'd be wearing to clubs in Van too. It just baffles me because- though I can't say I look very much chinese- I'm definitely Asian, so why?! Okay, maybe Malaysian girls don't hit the dance floor like I do. Hm, that could only mean...he was looking my way too!

It feels good to dance away all my worries...until Monday.
