Don't "News" Me

Dear pipsqueaks,

Once again, I'm reminded of why I don't watch the news. its hard to explain, but it must hv something to do with the depressing-ness of it all. I mean, I don't expect to hear about rainbows n lollipops or how the world is just fine ( that'd be a total lie anyways), but it's just a real heavy dose- or maybe even overdose- of negative energy crawling out from the tv screen, especially how it's like a full hour of it. Just today, some grandpa fell off a bridge while leaning too far over, but rescue came too late, only in time to declare his death. While the whole story was being told, u could see the body floating face down in the water being dragged to shore, put into a body bag, n carried into the van. Just to be clear, I don't get grossed out by these kinda things cos I'm a crazy crim major n a "crime scene investigation" lover (yes, I also understand that it's totally unrealistic that any crime could be solved within an hour- that's practically the first thing u learn in crim 101) anyways, back to what I was saying, that kinda stuff might be a little too much for the public to see or know for that matter. I'm sure the deceased would appreciate not to be seen on tv under those circumstances.

Then there's the news about how the police department finally signed up for twitter following the first anniversary of their facebook page. Yah, it's all dandy that news spead faster n ppl are more aware of
what's happening around them, but at the same time, it gives EVERYONE else access to the same kind of info. That may not be the smartest thing to do unless u have a genius news processor that can properly form the appropriate amount of details to be declared as "news". For one, u don't wanna start public chaos by spreading unnecessary fear. Let's be completely reasonable here, that's like walking on thin ice/tight rope (anyone in media would know the level of difficulty it would take to master that kinda skill to produce "appropriate news". That just makes me wonder whether the details are even true, how much of it was true? how bad really is the situation? is it blown out of proportion or being shoved under the table? Ahh too many possibilites!

So why do ppl put themselves thru that hour of total freak out session? Yah yah, I know. Its important to know what's going on around the world. But other than disasters- which are honestly out of our control- the rest are either gossip or inhuman behaviours. I did keep count tho, just to be fair, out of 10 pieces of "news", only 2 were happy ones, one actually being news (the other was about how a musician becomes a spokesperson for a drink- once again, I prove my point on how some things' newsworthiness should to be reconsidered) n that's 8 pieces of NEGATIVE news. That's 8 news too much of negative energy n really, some of them are just "how can someone be so stupid"
or "how can someone be so cold-hearted". Hai, too much negativity is not good for the human soul. So, as much as I care about the rest of the world, I need to be happy, or I should say, I want to be happy. Negativity, shoo shoo shoo!! Don't "news" me!

When u fill ur life with positivity, it is only natural that more will follow just because things alike tend to gather.
