But yes, I headed back to do a little catching up on my journal n left 20minutes to pack before the universal 12 o’clock checkout time. It’s funny cos I’m the type that takes a while to grow attached to things, but I’m actually gonna miss my little bottom bunk bed with it’s little cubby hole for my junk. Like how I planned this whole trip, I only packed what I needed n it just feels like the hostel was so fitting to the idea of being exactly what I needed, nothing more, nothing less. (well, I was lacking a blowdryer but that was my fault. I never make it back early enough to go ask for one at the front desk n always in a rush to leave in the morning cos I end up taking my sweetass time with everything- which is what vacations are supposed to be like, until u realize ur really wasting too much time floating :P) after some very quick packing as I didn’t bring much in the first place, I got ready for a whole day of lugging around my hugeass backpack (which if u hvn’t figured out by now, is my traveling companion *wink*) in search for a request of “garrett” popcorn n “kilkenny” irish beer by my friend in KL. See, that’s one thing about me. It literally becomes annoying when I can’t find something that should be easy to find! But good thing he gave me some addresses, I was able to find the building n with help from the info desk, garrett was soon standing in front of me! One thing: I was in this very building two days before n HONESTLY should hv investigated the sweet smell in the air cos that was EXACTLY what garrett smelled like: a waft of sweet, sweet popcorn. But no matter, one out of two completed! Now, on to the next item: kilkenny. Suppose cold storage would sell them, but after some questioning of the few managers I spoke with, not all of the stores carry them (O-M-G u can’t be serious). Never mind that- I charged for the nearest cold storage in takasimaya on orchard road n if u didn’t know me, u’d think I were an alcoholic cos I darted straight for the alcohol section. Their selection got me so excited cos, of al the stores I’ve searched, they had the biggest collection of beer. Except, they didn’t have it. W-T-F, like seriously, how can a can of beer be so damn hard to find!?!?! So, once again, after speaking with a staff, they directed me to a manager who looked long n hard for me in the back cos she “knows they carry it”. Well, it wasn’t on the shelf n that upsets me. But she was right, they really ran out of stock. But but but, luckily, someone ran to the refrigerated section n came back with some good news, finally. They have them cold! Well, that’s better than nothing, so I grabbed two bottles happily n checked out of takasimaya, orchard road. Next n last stop of Singapore: Harbourfront Center.
Backpacking what felt like a 10kg chubby baby, I had to sit down somewhere or else I’ll soon hv numb shoulders too. So I walked around in search for a starbucks hoping they’d hv wifi I could use….n booya, there it was with golden lights shining at me. Happiness soon turn into a frown when the barista informed me that they do not hv wifi at starbucks (I would never hv thought this day would come…no wifi at starbucks. This must be a first =.=”) but of course, i have been explained to that the whole Singapore has a wifi network, but u need to sign in with a local number- which I don’t hv. So that’s useless…so convenient n inconvenient at the same time. Never mind that, I actually gave up on the first day with being able to use my laptop to go online anyways. No hope, no disappointment indeed. Hahaha that’s about as much pessimistic-ness u’ll get from me. Nonetheless, I’m now waiting to board with a 10% battery life on my mini asus…will continue on the bus!
